Accessibility review of physical devices
An accessibility review of physical devices (ICT) provides guidance for developing solutions that work for more users, in line with the Accessibility Directive (EAA), EN 301 549, and other accessibility standards.

We review physical devices both on site in their installed environment, in your production environment, or in the user’s home environment. Our specialists examine and provide feedback with the support of expert users who themselves have disabilities affecting motor functions, cognition, or vision.
Examples of devices (ICT) that we review:
- Payment terminals
- Self-service terminals
- Self-scanning systems
- Self-checkout systems
- POS systems / Cash register systems
- Parcel lockers
- Routers
- Televisions or set-top boxes
- Mobile phones / Cell phones
- Ordering kiosks (for food, catering and more)
- Vending machines
- Queue ticket systems / Queue management systems
- Ticket machines
- Check-in kiosks
- ATMs / Cash machines
Physical devices in the home environment
If you have physical devices that can be used in different locations (such as in the user’s home environment), we will help you review the product, packaging, and instructions according to the EAA.
On-site reviews
On site, we can help you identify the improvements you need to make in the environment where users interact with the device — not only to comply with legal requirements, but also to create a great user experience.
The physical environment and the device influence each other, and many surrounding factors are just as important in enabling the user to access and use the device effectively.
What do you get?
The results are presented in Excel format with clear descriptions of issues, and include images and videos from the review to clarify the issues that have been found. We also provide suggestions for solutions and prioritize the severity of the issues from a user perspective. This makes it easy for you to start fixing low hanging fruit now, and plan ahead for more time consuming improvements that need to be made.

The report is presented during a relaxed and informative meeting where we look at the most interesting results, and you can ask us anything about the report or your next steps after the report. We love to help!
Prices
Accessibility review of individual product: ~€5000
More products in the same location: ~€1800 per product
All prices vary depending on the complexity of the product. Travel costs depend on the location of the review and are always clearly specified in the offer.
Optional extras
Our reports are very pedagogical, and include screenshots, videos and suggested solutions that help teams work with the issues after we are done with a review. However, there can still be questions about how to best solve some things in areas like software, interfaces and design, as well as discussions about what the laws really require, what is more “nice to have” etc. Then it’s nice to have an expert to guide you!
Remote software testing
In addition to reviewing physical devices on site, we can also help you test your product’s software remotely to ensure that it complies with WCAG. Among other things, we check contrasts and that it works smoothly with screen readers.
Price: ~€4000
Acceptance test
Once you have corrected the accessibility issues after receiving our report, we can perform a validation or acceptance test. The test is usually performed by the same tester and costs 30% of the original review price.
Support for new development
Our experts can guide you from the very first idea, helping you design your physical device to be inclusive from the start. Making adjustments to drawings and installation guidelines is far more cost-effective than changing a finished product.
Because physical products often have long lead times, acting early also reduces the risk of competitors getting ahead.
You can get this type of support, for example, through an time bank package.
“Time bank” – support from an accessibility specialist
When you order an audit, you can add a “Time Bank” with one of our specialists to support your team in the months following the audit. They can create a shared Slack channel, schedule time for pair programming or advisory meetings, or simply be available via email for tricky questions. If we are located in your area, we can also come to your office one day a week or more. Having a time bank means your team isn’t left alone to deal with the report results—you have our expert available all the way to the end!
